User Manual

► View as a slide presentation

Every GVS tool works the same way underneath: open a page, do your work, and everything stays on your device. This manual covers the parts common to all of them, then a short guide to each tool.

Getting started

There is no setup. These four steps are the whole onboarding.

01
01

Open the tool

Click its link. No account, no sign-up, no email address, no install.

02

Start entering data

It saves automatically as you type. There is no Save button because nothing needs sending anywhere.

03

Bookmark the page

Add it to your home screen or bookmarks bar. Return to the same URL and your work is there.

04

Export a backup

The one step people skip. Do it after your first real session — see Keeping your work safe.

How storage works

Understanding this prevents almost every problem people run into.

02
Where it lives

Your browser, your device

Work is saved in your browser's local storage on the device you are using. It is not uploaded, not synced, and not held by GVS.

  • No GVS server ever receives it
  • No breach elsewhere can include it
  • No one can be served an order for it
What that implies

Tied to browser + URL

Storage is per browser and per address. The same tool opened in a different browser, or from a file instead of the website, is a separate store.

  • Chrome and Firefox do not share data
  • Phone and laptop do not share data
  • Private/incognito windows keep nothing
The consequence

GVS cannot recover it

There is no password reset, no account recovery and no copy on our side — because holding one would defeat the design.

  • Export is your only backup
  • Clearing browser data deletes everything
  • This is a real risk you are accepting

Common tasks

These controls behave the same in every tool that has them.

03
TaskHowWhat happens
SaveAutomaticEvery change is written to local storage immediately. There is no Save button and nothing is lost by closing the tab.
ExportExport buttonDownloads a .json file containing everything in the tool. This is your backup and your transfer format. Keep it somewhere you trust.
ImportImport buttonLoads a previously exported file. This replaces what is currently in the tool, so export first if the current contents matter.
Print / PDFPrint buttonOpens your browser's print dialogue with a clean layout — buttons and controls are hidden. Choose "Save as PDF" for a shareable document.
ClearVaries by toolRemoves stored data for that tool. Irreversible unless you exported first.

The exported JSON is plain text you can open in any editor. It is deliberately not a proprietary format — you should be able to read, keep and move your own data without GVS existing.

Working across devices

There is no cloud sync. Moving work between devices is a deliberate manual step.

04
01

Export on device A

Press Export. A JSON file downloads.

02

Move the file

Email it to yourself, use a USB drive, or any transfer method you trust.

03

Open the tool on device B

Same tool, same URL, on the second device.

04

Import the file

Press Import and select it. Device B now matches device A.

There is no automatic merge

If you edit on both devices, the later import overwrites — it does not combine the two. Pick one device as your primary and treat the other as a copy, or export and re-import each time you switch.

Optional AI features

A few tools can generate a written summary. This is always optional and always off by default.

05
What it needs

Your own API key

Paste an Anthropic API key into the tool. It is stored in your browser and sent only to Anthropic, never to GVS.

  • You control the key and the cost
  • Remove it any time
  • Tools work fully without one
What it does

Explains, never invents

Counts and scores are calculated in the page. The model puts already-computed figures into sentences.

  • It cannot change a number
  • It cannot invent a name or date
  • Blank fields are reported as blank
What leaves your device

Only the summary text

When you press the button, the relevant summary of your data is sent to Anthropic to be worded.

  • This is the one exception to on-device
  • It happens only when you press it
  • Do not use it for data you cannot send

Keeping your work safe

Four habits. The first one matters more than the rest combined.

07
Habit 01

Export regularly

After every meaningful session, or weekly if you use a tool daily. It takes seconds and it is your only recovery path.

Habit 02

Keep backups somewhere separate

A second device, an encrypted drive, or wherever you keep documents that matter. Not only in the browser's Downloads folder.

Habit 03

Know your browser settings

Some browsers clear site data on close, or after periods of disuse. Check that setting before relying on a tool for anything important.

Habit 04

Never use private browsing for real work

Incognito and private windows discard everything when closed. Use a normal window.

If something has gone wrong

See the Troubleshooting Manual — it covers data that seems to have vanished, storage limits, import failures, printing problems and device transfer, with the cause and the fix for each.

These tools are provided free and as-is, without warranty. GVS is founder-led with no support desk, so we cannot promise a response time — but write to info@gvstechnologies.online and we will try.
